Gottemoeller, Fall 2020, Rose Gottemoeller served as the Deputy Secretary General of NATO from October 2016 t October 2019 and currently works as the Frank E. and Arthur W. Payne Distinguished Lecturer at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute and as a nonresident senior fellow in Carnegie’s Nuclear Policy Program. Prior to her work for NATO, she was the Undersecretary of Stat for Arms Control and International Security at the US State Department for nearly five year and was the chief US negotiator of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START during her time as Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance in 2009–10.
